Hello 2008
Welcome
to my website focused on Solo endurance riding. After
bit of a lay off all is live again! (see Blog) Solo
endurance racing is special, whether over 4, 6, 8,12 or 24 hours
everything has to be right up to and during the ride. This
does not of course mean we are special, one thing staying awake for
24 hours, it another thing to be on the bike for that period. Something
that niggles a little over an hours ride in the forest can become a
bit issue in an endurance race. Factors
which need to come right are – training, bike set up, health, diet,
race food, weather, course, travel, clothing and when these are right
you get that ‘nothing will stop me’ feeling and the next 24 hours
will become fun. There
is no doubt the about the respect that solo riders get during events,
especially the 24 hour races. And this is not undue, whatever I think
about doing it, it still amazes people when I tell them I have rode
not stop for 9 hours (had a
little longer break then). The
benefits – well you get more time on the course, you can eat more
cake during and after the event, there’s the camaraderie in the
solo tent at 3am when it started to rain and we’ve all got the
wrong tyres on. Then you’ve finished and you’ve done all on your
own, well almost. Behind
the scenes of any solo racer is the support as much as I can do solo
with no support there is nothing like someone telling you where you
are in the racer preparing your drinks and food, cleaning your bike
and giving you that hug at the end, while passing you that beer. So with
no team members and no changeover to worry about solo racing works
fine for me and many others, you can see a regular crowd in the solo
tent and racing in on the course. Welcome

There's a whole world to ride and I've only just started!
